গ্রীন অ্যানাকন্ডা দুনিয়ার সবচেয়ে ভয়ানক জীব । সাপের কথা শুনলে সবাই আমরা কম বেশি ভয় পেয়ে যাই ।বিশেষ করে যদি সাপটি বড় এবং লম্বা হয় । আমাজনে যে সাপটির কথা বলব সেটি দুনিয়ার সবচেয়ে বড় সাপ । পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে বড় সাপ গুলো আমাজনে বাস করে। তারা ছাগল হরিণ কুমির পর্যন্ত বড় বড় প্রাণী আস্ত গিলে ফেলতে পারে। পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে বড় সাপ হলো অ্যানাকন্ডা। যা গ্রীন অ্যানাকন্ডা নামে পরিচিত ! এ সব সাধারণত আমাজন জঙ্গলে পাওয়া যায়। একটি অ্যানাকন্ডা সাপ প্রায় ৯ মিটার অর্থাৎ ৩০ ফুট পর্যন্ত লম্বা হয়ে থাকে। এর ওজন ২৫০ কেজি পর্যন্ত হতে পারে। যা একজন মানুষের ওজনের চেয়ে ৫ গুণ বেশি। প্রায় সময় দেখা যায় এই প্রজাতির গ্রীন অ্যানাকন্ডা ১৮ থেকে ২৫ কেজি ওজনের শিখার খেতে পছন্দ করে থাকে। এ সাব সাঁতার কাটতে পারদর্শী । এরা বিষাক্ত নয় তবে এরা নিজের শিকারকে পেচিয়ে ৪০০ পাউন্ড এর বেশী চাপ প্রয়োগ করে দমবন্ধ করে মেরে ফেলে । যাতে করে শিকার কে গিলে ফেলতে সহজ হয় । এদের শিকারে তালিকায় রয়েছে হরিণ , ভেড়া , কুমির , সাপ ইত্যাদি ।এরা সাধারণত মানুষের উপর হামলা করে না । কিন্তু প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক অ্যানাকন্ডা একজন মানুষ সম্পূর্ণ গিলে ফেলার ক্ষমতা রাখে ।
